About The Show
How Many People Do We Need For A Good Show?

That Hypno Show works best with a group of over 50 people, and the more people who volunteer to come up on stage, the better the show generally will be. The main thing is to get 10 – 30 or more volunteers at the start of the show

Will I Be Embarassed?

We carefully select our material to avoid being rude or disrespectful to the participants. Since it is the participants who actually make the show, they deserve only respect and encouragement. None of our material is demeaning, nor would we ask anyone to do anything we would not do on stage ourselves or which would be unsuitable for prime time family viewing.

Why Only Volunteers?

You shouldn’t need to ask.

Won't I Be Self-Conscious If I Come Up On Stage?

No... You will be unconscious. You will also have a great deal of fun!

Who Is The Hypnotist?

How Much Does It Cost?

We charge a basic fee for a corporate show for up to 200 people, plus travel and out of pocket expenses if the show is more than 100 kms from Wellington, New Zealand.

We do special rates for charities and for club fundraisers.

For larger shows we put together a quotation that allows for additional sound, lighting and crew if required. Phone or email for a price for your show or a no obligation quote.

What About Having A Surprise Show?

Generally, people need a bit of time to get used to the idea before they volunteer to come on stage. If your group is mostly new to being hypnotised then a surprise show is probably not a great idea.  However, for the right kind of group a surprise show can work really well.  We would need to discuss it with you well beforehand as there are a few traps to watch out for when staging a surprise hypnosis show.

How Does 'That Hypno Show' Compare To Shows I Have Seen From "Famous" Overseas Performers?

Many New Zealanders have seen shows by touring overseas hypnotists, and might wonder how That Hypno Show compares. We haven't seen every other hypnotist there is. But of those we have seen, one thing that we've noticed is that many are just plain rude. We don't object to R18 material provided the audience knows what they have come to see, but we do object to bad manners and to meanness. I guess if you have 200 or more poeple and you know you'll not be back for 5 years, then it doesn't matter that some of them will wish they hadn't volunteered. But our average show has 100 people, and we want to be invited back so it matters to us and we wont get our laughs at the expense of your self esteem.

Our show also uses more technology than most, and we have more new and unique gags. I have seen many shows where every single gag was copied from elsewhere. More than one hypnotist has told me that someone else had copied their entire show word for word.

You'll find that our show has a healthy mixture of new and old material, and some plain old-fashioned good manners.

Why Do You Have All That Equipment?

We travel with 300 - 400kgs of equipment for our show.  We do this because we pride ourselves on presenting a professional stage show. Creating the right atmosphere with sound, music and lighting adds greatly to the effect of the show and the enjoyment of the audience. It is also more fun for us and less like work. We want everyone to have a great time. Good music and a good sound system is vital, and lighting creates the necessary mood.

It would also be fair to say that Gerard, Simon and Lynley all like having nice toys.

Would You Do An Outdoor Show?

Yes, we would do an outdoor show, provided the occasion and the outdoor venue was workable.

Who Are The 'That Hypno Show' Team?

That Hypno Show has a regular team of three people. Obviously there is Gerard V, the Hypnotist.  Then there is his support crew, Simon Murcott, and Lynley Davis.

Simon is responsible for sound and lighting, whilst Lynley is behind the camera videoing the show so that we can create a DVD.
